BODY PAINTED AVATAR PERFORMERS AND CHARACTERS FOR EVENTS
AVATAR BODY PAINTED CHARACTERS AND COSTUME FOR PARTIES

Originally commissioned for an Oscars themed gala event in 2009, the Avatar body painted dancers were so well received that we produced a total of 16 throughout 2010. We painted circus performers, aerialists, models, acrobats and fire breathers across a range of Avatar themed parties, events and galas.
After producing a life-cast of the principal performer, a sculpture of the avatar nose was completed in oil based clay. This sculpt was then cast and produced as a latex prosthetic, the nose being combined with foam latex ear tips to give the profile of the Avi characters from the Avatar film. The prosthetics were pre-coloured blue with PAX paints for ease.
The body painting was completed by giving a full body base coat in aqua colour before stippling on a slightly lighter shade to add texture. Once the second layer was completed, tone was pushed in with dark blue (darker than the initial base colour) before stripping with airbrush stencil and freehand. The luminescent dots were produced with a two part metallic silver and dusted with UV reactive eyeshadow.
Diffused yellow contact lenses, hand dyed costumes and headwork were finally used to complete the fantastical look of the characters.
